In the past, I have taught a couple of students who were beginners. One student was not American, and I had to teach her proper English pronunciation, while teaching her vocal technique. She was a hard worker, and came prepared the next week. Therefore, I could work at a faster level with her, then could I with another student who was progressing more slowly. If I can make a difference by teaching, in vocal technique, but also in the love of music, having fun, and finding and tapping into the creative part of my students, then I did my job. Read More

Every lesson begins with vocal warm ups and breathing exercises, the importance of which can't be understated. Just as athletes wouldn't take the field without stretching, singers should never sing without giving their voice time to warm up. Warming up also serves as an excellent way for Jon to gauge student progress and make sure they are vocally healthy. After warm-ups, we move on to song study. Students and I work together to pick out the best songs for their particular voice. Read More

It really doesn't matter how quickly or slowly does a person learn. What matters is it's done positively and it should be lively! We are making music and it shouldn't end up becoming boring, sad or depressing! I ensure that the student enjoys every moment of the lesson. The only thing I request all students is to find some time to practise. That is the only way that we can get what we want. Read More

For intermediate students, I'm interested in attaching your technique to your repertoire. We will explore material based on your vocal goals, keeping your voice happy and healthy while singing music that you enjoy. Read More

Im dedicated, passionate about music, about teaching, about sharing and learning. I believe that the role of a teacher is to give to the students the tolls for them to become their own teachers, meaning, trusting their ears, their sensations, their instincts, and knowing how to use these tolls.
