I am a guitar instructor based in Los Angeles. I have more musical instruments than furniture in my house. I regularly perform in a number of ensembles in the area. I'm involved with a local gamelan ensemble (Indonesian percussion music), the Elizabeth Waldo Orchestra, and the Music Center of Los Angeles as an artist educator. Read More

I really love seeing my students come into their musicianship and artistry! I know that, it is really important that each student flourishes at his or her own pace. I believe setting realistic goals keeps both myself and the students engaged throughout the experience. I want to celebrate the wins we come across as much as possible as I know that inspires a lot of people to continue. I like to tailor everything to the students needs and desires while also giving them a broad knowledge to build from. Read More

I have a wide variety of performance experience in piano, vocal performance, and composition. I have performed in over 40 shoes in both opera and musical theatre, from Sweeney Todd to Spring Awakening, L'Incoronazione di Poppea and Trouble in Tahiti. I have also an extensive background as a choral performer (both secular and religious settings). I have taught students of all ages in music practice, theory, and foreign language in both group and individual settings. Read More

Lessons are custom depending on student goals and desired musical styles. Lessons begin at the piano with vocal warm-ups and vocalises for proper singing technique, followed by vocal exercises focusing on areas in need of strengthening. Time is also spent on breath work, posture, acting, language pronunciation and choreography, depending on the song/project. This is followed by working on pieces of music selected by both the student and I, tailored to the students needs and goals. Read More

For beginning students, I introduce musical theatre and classical repertoire and the fundamentals of music theory. As the student progresses, I include advanced exercises used to strengthen the voice and have them learn various styles of singing based on their interests and career path. Students are expected to vocalize every day on their own and complete any homework or songs before assigned dates. For students interested, I will also enter them into competitions and auditions where they can expand their performance experience. Read More

For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Hal Leonards Essential Elements book, as well a basic understanding of music. Once the student has progressed to have a nice grasp of the fundamentals of music, I usually begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first recital performance. I also believe in the importance of listening to as many professional recordings as possible of the instrument the student is taking lessons on. Read More
