I started teaching college age students as an Undergraduate as part of my vocal pedagogy class, and have also taught students for my Graduate vocal pedagogy class. I continued teaching some after the classes concluded. Early in 2013, I officially opened my own voice studio and have been taking new students ever since. I encourage students to focus on their personal expression and growth as a musician. While I select pieces for students based on their skill level and ability to take challenges effectively, students are given the freedom to browse their own musical library or lexicon to perform music they enjoy or is moving to them. Since many modern songs can be found without sheet music or proper notation for each instrument, I arrange pieces and songs for students' instruments as close to the recorded version as possible. I've been teaching all ages from 8-88 since I was 18as a private music teacher and coach, inprivate and public schools and community centers. I created workshops and shows for my student's participation. I'm a musician first and foremost.  This means that it is not my 'job', it is my life!  The first concert that I produced was when I was 16 years old, and it featured the legendary jazz clarinetist Woody Herman and the Thundering Herd.  Since that time, I have been performing, conducting, producing concerts, composing music and teaching students.  I have performed with a wide variety of classical and jazz and pop musicians: from The Brubeck Brothers, Diane Schuur, Preservation Hall Jazz Band and Melissa Manchester; to the Oregon String Quartet and Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra. Ever since a child, I've loved learning, music and sharing my passions! Through grade school I grew into the role of a leader and a musical/visual artist. In 2018 I graduated from Central Washington University with a Bachelors in K-12 Music Education with a minor in Spanish. My years of teaching grade school has reaffirmed my passion for teaching, and drive to be the best teacher I can. I believe that it is incredibly important in mental and aural understanding of music and necessary in creating a complete musician. I love children and also received a BA in Psychology that mostly focused upon Developmental Psychology. This aspect of my education aids in my understanding of a child’s mind and helps me to be sensitive to their needs as young learners.
