One of the greatest sources of joy and exhilaration I have experienced throughout my teaching career occurs every time one of my students performs, and I get to witness the hard work and determination they have implanted into their playing. Every time they smile while playing their instrument is the single most rewarding feeling I have encountered in my years as a teacher, and I relish the opportunity to bask in that feeling every chance I get. I am a patient teacher with a former career/background in counseling. I love music and I want my students to love it too! I played in the instrumental surf band, Venice Beach Muscle Club; we played traditional melodic melodies and surf standards but we also wrote arrangements that stretched the genre to include familiar melodies from indie rock, new wave, and 60's rock. I was born and raised in Brooklyn and have been living and teaching music here my whole life. Read More

Teaching people to be musicians is probably the best thing I can think of doing as a career in my life, other than of course performing live and playing with bands and making music. I would love to teach people how to play music so that they can teach others and the world can be full of music. Together, we can help change the world. Playing music for charity and benefits is something I also do. Read More

Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students develop a passion for music! Therefore, it's important that each student progresses at his or her own pace. I encourage this by setting realistic goals for my students at each lesson. Acknowledging accomplishments helps fuel a students desire to progress, and makes students eager to learn more. By trying to find out what inspires the student, I can successfully tailor my instruction to their wants and needs. Read More

As soon as I graduated high school, I began teaching with my old high school as an assistant. Over the course of time I began progressing in my playing which lead to more teaching positions in various styles and genres of music from Drumline to Jazz. Educating and passing along concepts is one of the most important roles as a musician. The goal is to give your students enough tools to surpass you as a mentor. Read More
