Music is one of the most important things in my life and am overjoyed when given the opportunity to teach and instill that into another student. I work with student's at their pace, with the thought in mind that my student is continuously practicing every week to improve and utilize past lessons. However, I do keep in mind a sense of reality with one's schedule, how busy they may be and the inability to sometimes make time to practice. Read More

My main focus is helping the student improve while enjoying the process. A musician is more likely to stick with it if it's fun. If it's classical on doublebass the book of choice is Simandl or something that teaches fingerings. Maybe the bassist wants to play jazz. That involves learning scales and patterns.Listening to the types of music you are interested in can be very helpful and fun and I like to encourage that. Read More

Music is one of the greatest gifts and skills a person can posses. I have been studying music my entire life, beginning when I was 3 years old. I started taking piano lessons in which I learned how to read music and learned my scales and modes at a very young age. At age 13 I was gifted my first bass guitar. I immediately started taking lessons for a few months before studying independently on my own. Read More

I'll begin by asking about your goals and aspirations to design the curriculum around your playing level. As a beginner student, we may start with left right hand coordination and instrument positioning, we'll work on motor skills and get started on developing fun practice habits. As we progress, we'll begin to apply concepts in a musical context by learning progressions to popular songs and analyzing why they work. We'll jam, play off of one another and begin to sing what we play. Read More

I have also taught numerous piano and bass guitar students all whom have recieved a great start to their musical journey. Read More

My teaching style is overall fairly laid back. I let my students set the pace, but I also expect them to be passionate, curious, and hard-working. I love to encourage students as they explore different areas of their playing, and try different ideas. I push my students just out of their comfort zone, and force them to take risks. I encourage musical open mindedness, which means I truly think that there is value in all different styles of music. Read More
