My teaching experience goes back to middle school. I didn't get paid for it but I would teach the drummers their part the ensembles and performances in the orchestra and jazz band. That way the teacher could focus on instructing the other students the different instruments. I started booking regular paid gigs after college. I would perform shows and people would ask for lessons after the gig, networking is a big part of the professional side of playing music I encourage listening to all styles of music. Read More

I've learned to be honest with myself as a teacher. The same methods, books, practice routines don't work for everyone. I believe in understanding the needs, wants goals of each individual. Academic Instinctual should blend together as one. Animal from " The Muppets " has an influence as much as my college professor. I see nothing wrong with rewarding the student for work well done. There's a way to WORK CELEBRATE with humility. Read More

I have had a love a music for as long as I can remember. My mom used to play in her community band when she was pregnant with me. In 2013, I graduated from Chapman University with a Bachelor's degree in music performance, primarily in Trumpet and Bass Guitar. While in High School, I performed in every Ensemble I possibly could, which includes Symphonic Band, Marching Band, Orchestra, and Jazz Band. Read More

For piano I use a combination of the Bastien books, if you are a beginner. For more intermediate or advanced I use whatever music the student is interested in. It could be the Great American Songbook or classical music. For percussion, for beginners I use the Garwood Whaley book, Fundamentals for the Snare Drum. For drum set I use the Syncopation Book by Ted Reed and a variety of other books depending on the need. Read More

Progress is not always easy when learning to play a new instrument. Everyone learns at there own pace, and with each lessons I will set attainable goals for the student. it is best when students have varying difficulties of material within their material in order to provide opportunity for satisfaction despite whatever struggles they may have. I encourage daily practice, even if only for small amounts of time. Effective practice requires some level of independence, and I focus a lot our time on the art of practicing, and how to focus your attention in order to get the best out of your practice time. I'm a friendly and passionate instructor who loves working with students of all ages. In 2016, I graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with in Drum Performance. Between 2014-16, I led a funk/fusion and salsa ensemble each consisting of 10-12 members and toured the UK and America's East Coast. In 2016, I did the Independent Artist programme from Musician's Institute where I learnt more about Music Business, Recording and Production, which helped me understand how to make it as a drummer in real life once you attain a certain skill level. I've found that being flexible and adaptible is most important to me, as everyone learns in a different way. I place a lot of importance on following student interest and goals as well, since it doesn't matter how great your instruction is if you're bored and don't want to keep playing. I think every student should get as much out of their lesson experience as they want, whether that means a more casual experience where you're not practicing too much throughout the week, or holding my student more accountable if they express more ambitious goals.
