My musical background originally consisted of classic rock and blues music. I then wanted to expand my pallet of music while attending Hunter College for my Bachelors of Music with a concentration in Jazz Performance, therefore, I began studying Jazz, Funk, and Latin music. This consisted of joining the college Big Band and many small Jazz and Contemporary music groups gaining much experience. I've had many opportunities to learn from some of the greatest musicians in the world and I am excited to share that knowledge with my students. Read More

To become a better musician, we need to look honestly at where we stand in our development and do the work necessary to overcome technical issues. I believe that most issues are best addressed by carefully working on the instrument’s fundamentals. In my classes I focus on building up strong foundations and, from there, give the student the necessary tools to develop confidence in the instrument and the ability to perform any style of music. I'm a passionate and motivated instructor who loves working with students and sharing my love of music. I graduated in 1994 from New York University with a Bachelor of Music degree from the School of Education - Department of Music and Performing Arts Professions. I have had the privilege of working extensively in the music business as an assistant recording engineer with many household name performers. I have performed in marching band, African drumming ensembles, and various modern pop-rock bands throughout my music career. Read More

I began teaching private lessons 12 years ago, and always loved to transmit what has been transmitted to me by my great former teachers. I have taught drums to kids as young as 5 to adults as "young" as 50 so far, and I love to adapt my ways of explaining the concepts depending on the age or personality of the student. My experience taught me that we all are different in our way to learn and understand things. Read More

Ive taught students of all ages and various skill levels for almost 20yrs. Its great to pass along experience and perspective to students helping them grow in their abilities to play and appreciate music. I'm kind of a hybrid musician that has had opportunities to work with many professional musicians and also to study with several great musicians in their own right. Ive had great tremendous opportunities to play all over the US and also in South America. Read More

I teach basic stick technique using George Lawrence Stone's Stick Control, and I have numerous hand exercises based on patterns from that book that I warm up with every lesson. Starting with snare drum and basic hand technique also will incorporate rhythm reading, and basic limb independence. When my students start behind the kit, they will start by applying some of those hand exercises to the drumset, and also learn how to orchestrate and play basic grooves. Read More
