I'm a musician who enjoys teaching just as much as I enjoy performing. I have sung in many operas, sung for many venues including school dances, sports games and on recordings. I have sung and played in multiple genres and continue to sing, perform, compose, teach and conduct. I want people to love music and get involved in music regardless of how far they intend to go with itbecause music can really bless someone's life. Read More

I teach beginning piano using the Faber Piano Adventures method, as well as the Suzuki method. From there we go into classical training, then on to jazz or pop. This includes music theory, technique, and the major and minor scales. I teach songwriting if you are looking to create songs, and I teach music theory as well as music composition. I teach music production, electronic music production, and all aspects of Ableton Live. Read More

A relationship with music is a very personal thing. To some it is all about the competition while to others it is simply the joy of playing for one's self. It is my job as a teacher to help each student discover what it is they want to get out of their experience with music and then help to nurture that experience. To treat music like a sport and assume that all students have the same expectations is a mistake that is made all too often with our schools and is, regrettably, all too often the main reason why so many kids choose not to continue with music. Depending on the level of the student and instrument, I incorporate a mixture of theory, aural skills, technique, and repertoire. All of my piano students play Hannon exercises to build up their finger strength and dexterity as well as scales. Vocal students and guitar students likewise learn scales and exercises for the sake of technique. All students start each lesson by practicing reading rhythms at varying complexities, then creating their rhythmic patterns. Read More

I am a proud self-taught musician and have a great ear for music, so I love unearthing the same talents in my students. For my beginners, I feel that while practice makes perfect, Ode to Joy gets boring after the 127th time, so I focus on getting my students to learn their favorite songs that I have personally transformed into easy one-note-at-a-time melodies and work my students up to the chords, scales and modes that make up these songs. I am a creative teacher that looks and listens to the individual to help them to master the musicianship to play their instrument with the best sound and learn and apply the style of music being studied. From my yoga training I apply ideas of right alignment that help the student to play ergronomically correct. From my Suzuki training, I apply the principles of beautiful sound and learning both by ear and with music. Read More

I try to keep the student as interested as possible, some have shorter attention spans then others and for them maybe i will do 30 minutes instead of 45 minutes. others who are really into it and do not want to leave i may teach them for an hour and that often turns into 2 or 3 hours of just jamming and having fun at no extra cost because without students a maestro is nothing but a musician playing music. i love to play along with students so they are more prepared when they go out and make music with others musicians and they can stay in time with a drummer more easily.
