In addition to partimento, I use other traditional methods. For beginner students who are children, I typically start with the James Bastien method. I like this method because it combines reading and playing the piano from the very beginning in a well-structured progression. Then it introduces important new concepts with fun (if charmingly old-fashioned) songs designed for teaching. As the student progresses, I like to use Hanon exercises for developing finger strength, and classical repertory for use in performance. Read More

For begginers, being adults or children, I always start with a set of easier musics that don't include very hard chords, but that may interest the person in what they're doing. The only difference between the children and the adult would be the guitar size and the amount of practicing and how often they need to practice. The key point is to have fun during the lessons to stimulate practicing every so often so that no matter how hard the songs are they can do it. Read More

We went over some very basic principles starting with listening and goal settings. We also learned how to play along with a rhythm and learn the names of the different notes, scales, and chords. These are foundational building blocks that I use with all my students, but the number one factor for learning an instrument is having a love for it. I studied guitar with international performing artist Anna Maria Rosado and composition with American composer Annette Le Siege.  I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Classical Guitar Performance from New Jersey City University.  I have performed extensively in small venues throughout Vermont, and was a house musician for several seasons at the Yosemite Theater in Yosemite National Park, California.
