I have taught kids from ages 9 to fourteen, and am open to teaching anyone of any skill level. I also offer lessons in composition and recording/engineering music production. I encourage regular practice and make sure, especially for kids, that they leave every lesson with something new. I focus on learning how to be a successful musician all around, emphasizing on good technique, performance, and each student's individual sound. I graduated from Hampton University in 2003 with Bachelor of Arts degree in Piano Performance and have been teaching students the wonder of piano even before I graduated. I like to say that while I have a very methodical and systematic approach to teaching that I am also relaxed and laid back. I never want my students to fear their lesson. While I expect progress for the serious student I also fully recognize the limitations and conflicts of "life getting in the way". I am a big proponent of giving compliments whenever possible. Because of my active involvement in the musical world from a young age, I understand the different challenges and learning curves for students of all ages. I have found that everyone processes things differently, develops at various paces, and not one voice is the same. That being said, I cater my lessons to each individuals needs.
