I assign method books, etudes (studies), and repertoire appropriate for the playing level of the student. My teaching emphasizes fundamentals first for students of every level. This fundamental study supports students in their pursuit of their musical and artistic goals. The method books I recommend students begin with are in the Rubank series, either Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Etudes to supplement will be the Cavally Melodious and Progressive studies. When a solid foundation has been established, it is much easier to approach those more complicated concepts. It then allows everything that a student do to become easier and truly move forward in their learning at an accelerated pace. I began teaching in Mississippi in 2011 to college students at the University of Southern Mississippi. After moving to Cincinnati, I began teaching preschool music. I began developing a preschool curriculum at the University of Cincinnati's Preparatory Program that combined reading, dancing, singing and imagining. After teaching privately for a year, I began my position as Executive Director of the Cincinnati Outreach (COR) Music Project. I graduated from Kent State University in 2015 with my Bachelor of Science in Music Education, followed by a Master of Music in Bassoon Performance in 2019, and recently completed an Artist Diploma from UC-CCM.
