From there we move on to learning music theory, Open throat technique as well as specific techniques involving the students preferred Genre. There are moments that I look back and think how amazing is that students start from scratch and now they are able to create music on their favorite musical instrument. Technical development is always an essential element in my teaching but the ultimate goal is to help the students to feel and express music to the very extent their abilities. During my undergraduate time I was apart of those vocal ensembles and worked closely with professors and students to write, arrange and perform full length vocal compositions. Soon after graduation, I was a full-time musician giving freelance voice lessons, and also teaching jazz voice while an artist in residency at Duke Ellington. During my time at Duke, I continued to perform and record around Washington, DC. This is where I began to be recognized for my talent, and was approached by an independent label who would soon thereafter move me to Atlanta, Ga to pursue my goal of being a full-time artist.
