I began teaching private lessons in high school. I would have middle schoolers meet me at the high school and teach from there. I fell in love with teaching at that point. I found that the feeling of seeing/hearing a student succeed at their instrument makes me incredibly happy!!! I have taught anywhere from classical/instrumental to country/hip hop. I also like to make sure my students are having fun. Read More

I use the Suzuki method for all starters, however, the repertoire is not only Suzuki. As indicated reading method, the more used is the I Can Read Music and the Hal Leonard Essential Elements. My students' repertoire is very significant in the process to be played and arranged for an ensemble as well. I understand that each student has a specific kind of motivation to play a musical instrument and usually, the student finds a new way when he/she start playing in a group (in his church, school etc). Practice makes perfect. I believe the basics are the most important part to any education including a musical one. Just as a building requires a solid foundation before it can rise to the sky so too do students need to master fundamentals before moving on to the more challenging aspects of their instruments. I mastering the saxophone I would focus on basics such as fingering, scales, posture, breathing technique, rhythm and embouchure. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trumpet Trombone
Every student is different, so my teaching approach is rarely identical from student to student. Technical training progresses as a student develops motivation through his or her practice habits. I try to encourage practice through journal entry and self-accountability. I also try to make a student's home practice a little more exciting by setting goals and explaining what will be accomplished through achieving these short-term goals. Introducing new concepts while perfecting basic technique is how I try to captivate a student's attention and excitement for music. Read More

I am a graduate of Texas Tech University. I began teaching privately in 1985 on the Lubbock ISD Music Tutorial Program. I went into the schools and taught students privately during class hours. I taught Tuba and Baritone Horn. In 1989 I began teaching with Lubbock Parks and Recreation in the community centers. This was more generalized. I taught Band Instruments, Voice, Guitar, Music Theory, Beginner Piano, Beginner Strings. What I consider to be my crown achievement is hearing from parents who told me that the overall academic performance of their children had improved since they began taking lessons from me. Read More
