Instruments: Voice
I have been studying in Denmark the Complete Vocal Technique for 3 years. In the course of that time, I saw how much faster my students are improving and how content they are with their sound and singing. This method truly allows me to help singers sing in the way THEY wish to sing in, whether it's a delicate singing as in Folk music, or Extreme singing with vocal effects as in Heavy Metal. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
For young and/or beginner vocalists, I focus on classical fundamentals, as they are the roots for success in all genres. This means working on breath support and learning about vowel placement. The next step would then be developing and strengthening the singers vocal range and repertoire. For adults and/or more experienced vocalists, I focus on what the student is trying to accomplish and help them move towards their goals. Read More
Instruments: Piano Voice
Wanting to share my love and passion for music is the such an important role of being a music teacher. I hope to encourage my students to want to learn, practice, and preform at their own pace. I also strive to acknowledge my students accomplishments and progress to keep them motivated and eager for more. I cater my lessons to the individual wants and needs of the student in order to acheive what is best for them and keep them excited and interested. Read More
Instruments: Saxophone
My teaching method is roughly similar, whether you are young or old, a beginner or advanced. I believe in staying as close to music as possible; exercises have their place, but if we can use actual music to teach technique, sound, articulation, harmony, or any other topic, all the better. As a teacher, I consider a large part of my role simply curating the music you hear and learn, combining both your interests with your skill level and needs as an instrumentalist. Read More
Instruments: Double Bass Music
I began teaching in college 6 years ago and have helped students successfully prepare for and win ensemble auditions at the college level. For the double bass, perhaps the most athletic instrument, I know it is imperative to focus on proper posture and technique to avoid injury. This bodily awareness (rooted in years of yoga practice) is a central part of my teaching philosophy. As a composer, I encourage my students to pursue their passions by creating works for the bass that draws on what we have been learning in the studio and practicing at home. Read More
Instruments: Voice Music
I like to keep things simple. I focus on breathing and diction exercises and I like to discuss with my students about their performance. My style is very friendly and open and I will push my students to succeed. Singing comes down to muscle memory and each session with me is a mix of working out the mind and vocal muscles. Good fundamentals fix a lot of problems :) At one point, all my students (who have the self-awareness to do so) will stop themselves and correct any vocal mistakes made during practice without my input. Instruments: Guitar Voice
I have been a teacher for 6 years, specializing in one-on-one lessons, loving the thrill of helping students grow to their fullest potential. I started taking on private students while in between shows and gigs in 2009, and haven't looked back. It is now my full-time job, and I love it! I also had magical experiences teaching and mentoring kids at an wonderful summer camp in New Jersey the past few summers. Read More
