In 2018, I graduated from New York University with a Masters of Music in Composition for Film and Visual Media. My projects include film scores, chamber and large ensemble compositions, musical theatre songwriting, choral music, and electroacoustic and intermedia projects. As a working composer, I have been given the opportunity to score short films that have entered the festival circuit, collaborating with directors internationally. I'm a friendly and passionate instructor who loves working with students of all ages. In 2016, I graduated from Newcastle University with a Bachelor of Arts degree with in Drum Performance. Between 2014-16, I led a funk/fusion and salsa ensemble each consisting of 10-12 members and toured the UK and America's East Coast. In 2016, I did the Independent Artist programme from Musician's Institute where I learnt more about Music Business, Recording and Production, which helped me understand how to make it as a drummer in real life once you attain a certain skill level. With any student who is in a beginning sort of stage with their musicality, I will start off by teaching them basic techniques, simple notes or chords(dependent on the type of instrument), and rudimentary knowledge of the notational system. Once they have started to make some progress, I take a unique approach by asking them of their own opinion for where they would want to see themselves go. I personally practice SOVT, where we start with light humming, use a semi-occluded means of vocalizing (such as lip trills or a straw in water) to gradually warm-up the vocal cords and bring the breath under the voice for adequate support. Then we move on to actual vocalizations. Over several lessons, we work on a chosen piece together and begin building repertoire appropriate to the singer.
