I started in the year 2011. At the age of 18 I had a lot of contact with people who liked my music and therefore asked me if I could help them improve the way they perform music. Since then I have filled with great satisfaction to see how as I shared my knowledge people developed their abilities. Since 2013 I have been officially working as a music instructor with students of different ages. Read More

In addition to helping me improve my facility with the saxophone, Paul helped me develop a solid pedagogy for the instrument. At Queens I also devised a curriculum for the Queens College Balkan Music Ensemble, a group which I founded and directed for one semester before graduating in 2012. Since completing my masters degree, I've continued teaching privately, and performing with my groups, Raya Brass Band and Sherita. I perform around 80 shows a year, both in the New York Area and touring nationally. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I have taught piano since the age of 14 under the guidance of my piano teacher, Mr. Maximillian Mendel. Mr. Mendel was my model for teaching piano as I use his method for teaching, and as such I have been teaching piano ever since at my home. Having developed Mr. Mendel's teaching method into my own teaching method. I believe in including the student's interests in questioning all aspects of their learning process. Read More

Teaching requires time and effort but it also needs to be fun, therefore my lessons have both components, while setting up short and long term goals we explore music in fun ways that allows for self expression and we stay focused by having a clear goal for every lesson. We will keep a journal where we will be recording our achievements, homeworks and general progress. We will use students ideas for songs they are interested in learning as well as some of my own suggestions for repertoire. Read More

I believe in tailoring music lessons to the individual students needs. This usually involves speaking with the student in the first lesson/lessons to find out what specifically they want to learn or improve. Once I've figured this out, I begin to find repertoire or create exercises that challenge this student in the respective area of focus. With younger students, I prefer to make an executive decision to begin with method books and then ease into more relevant material when the student is comfortable with their instrument. Read More

This is part of my motivation for moving into teaching now---the other half of it involves the wonder that is music! Playing with others brings me an inimitable kind of joy. I hope to be able to share this joy with others! I studied music composition at Bennington College, and graduated with my BA in June of 2018. I've played at the Amerikahaus in Munich, Blue Note in Manhattan, with John Zorn at the Brooklyn Conservatory, with Debbie Harry at the Hard Rock Cafe, at Webster Hall, Rockwood Music Hall, The Flea Theater, Fat Cat Billiards, The Music Hall of Williamsburg, the Flea Theater, the Williamsburg Music Center, Windjammer, and Scholes Street Studio. The most important people in my life have always been my teachers. Teachers in my life have been to thank for my greatest triumphs and to no one else do I owe such a great debt. However, careless teachers have driven many students away from a musical life, and left indelible scars on others. Thus, it is with the greatest respect and acknowledgment of responsibility that I approach my teaching style. Read More
