I find my greatest joy in life in music and sharing it with others. I am a composer and performing pianist who has discovered music as my most comfortable language for communicating with the world. I have benefitted from studying with some of the world's foremost composers at Juilliard, Bard and the Manhattan School of Music, and am enthusiastic about imparting all that I have learned from them. Each year after that, I got a new instrument and taught myself how to play it. I got the John Phillip Sousa award for playing trumpet in my high school orchestras. I love playing music in bands and I am always consistently playing music on a daily basis. I draw attention to the importance of listening and help the student identify what to listen for. There is nothing more frustrating than practicing a particular fill 1000 times, only to later realize you've been practicing it incorrectly. This is very common among drummers young and old, but is easily dealt with by simply cultivating a sense of listening and apt imitation. However, I do not endorse perfectionism as a means of effective learning either, and I also will remind the student of the fact that sometimes when you're jamming,even if what what you're playing is not perfect, it's "good enough for rock and roll." I like to being on creating a wonderful sound, and a very good concept of rhythm which relates not only to fingers, but also and internal pulse. I like to also focus a lot on the exhale of air into the instrument, and the relationship to blowing air through technical passages. Once this is grasped, working on scales, various etude books, and applying these concepts to the repertoire works well for both beginner and advanced students. Read More

I am a music teacher who is very passionate about imparting knowledge and sharing music with my students. I have been teaching music theory, solfeggio, voice, counterpoint and choral conducting. I graduated with three degrees in music, namely Bachelor of Music in Music Education, Bachelor of Music in Voice, Bachelor of Music in Conducting.
