I am an adjunct faculty member at NYU, teaching saxophone, clarinet, and keyboard, and music theory. I began teaching saxophone when I was 15, to beginning players at local middle schools and quickly built a full studio of young saxophonists, clarinetists, and flutists. Since then, I have taught at Birch Creek Music Performance Center in Egg Harbor, Wisconsin, led masterclasses in San Jose, Costa Rica, Orange County, CA, Rochester, NY, and the Dallas/Fort Worth area. A 20-year veteran musician, I was working in Los Angeles performing with such people as Gregg Wright (Michael Jackson's former guitarist), Spencer Davis, and many other high-profile names. I performed all over the Southwest, from San Francisco to San Diego to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. I've done weddings, clubs private parties, recording sessions, drum circles...you name it. I'm also friends with famous drummers you've heard of, and relay stories of the life of a musician that you won't hear in any music school. Read More
Instruments: Piano Trombone Euphonium
For beginner students, I will usually start with the basic fundamentals of playing the instrument. This would include tone production, articulation, flexibility, scales, arpeggios, and sight reading. Once the student has become more fluent in the technique of their instrument I will start to ask them what they want to work on and improve upon. One method I truly believe in is playing duets with the student. The best way to improve at anything is to practice with someone who has more experience. Read More

In addition to recitals, Moes students often perform throughout the community at various events. This not only spreads music and allows the children to share their talents, but also instills in them the importance of giving back to the community. Moe's piano students have been featured at the following locations: Cabrini Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (New York, NY) CareOne at The Cupola: Senior Care Community (Ridgewood, NJ) The Manhattan-Bronx Festival: NY Music Teachers Association (New York, NY) Mill Garden: An Assisted Living Residence (Midland Park, NJ) Pine Rest: Senior Care Community (Ridgewood, NJ) Ridgewood Center: AGenesis HealthCare Facility(Ridgewood, NJ) Village Nursing Home (New York, NY) "Teaching piano to the children, and my students performing in my community, is my response to violence in our world, to make music more intensely, more beautifully, more devotedly than ever before." - Moe Read More

My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time 15 years ago, and have been consistently teaching students in my home studio for the last 10 years. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. I've also found that a combination of classical and modern music can go a long way in helping students enjoy the piano and motivate them to practice and continue to learn. Read More
