Instruments: Piano Synthesizer
Throughout my music career, I had amazing teachers that helped me grow as a musician. I have taken the best of these experiences to help me become a better teacher. I strive to create a passion for music through learning, positive reinforcement and by creating an environment that is nurturing. While I believe in structure, discipline and hard work, I also want my learning environment to be fun. Building a strong foundation in music theory is important, but finding and unleashing the students passion for music is just as important. Read More
Instruments: Piano Saxophone Clarinet Harp
I have been a private lessons instructor since 2006. The instruments I have taught include: piano, harp, saxophone, and clarinet with an emphasis on classical music. I have also worked as an elementary general music teacher since 2014. Our curriculum includes developing knowledge and skills in performance (vocal/ instrumental), literacy, history, composition, appreciation and evaluation. In addition to my teaching experience, I also have many years worth of performance experience in both classical and jazz settings, which has greatly helped me in being able to provide instruction and direction to students seeking to pursue music performance as a career. Instruments: Piano Violin
During my undergrad, I have consistently taught private lessons as a part time violin instructor. After I moved to Madison, I had the chance to teach college students violin lessons and coach chamber groups in high schools through the outreach program at school. I strongly recommend students to practice every day even though it is only short amount of time. I have found if students get familiar with the instrument and learning materials, as a result, they would make good progress, feel motivate to continue to learn and enjoy playing the instruments. Instruments: Piano Drums Keyboard
For beginning students and youth, I typically start with music theory and proper positioning. I have found an easy method for playing songs almost immediately. For students that desire sight reading as a priority, I will start with Hal Leonard's Essential Elements and walk them through exercises that will keep them sharp and focused. For adults, I want to learn their goal and their niche. I will structure my course around their needs. Read More
