Upon a student's evaluation every lesson with any student should form it's own branch or life of it's own. Music is a passionate expression. I help students understand their instruments. Self expression, individualism, and self composition are traits I sought as a student and musician. My joy as a teacher, instructor and mentor is seeing the excitement someone achieves when they finally feel the "got it" or are starting to connect the dots. Read More

-Practicing is important, but the most essential way to improve is to USING THE CORRECT METHOD TO PRACTICE. -A wrong way to practice the piano might lead a dead end no matter how long you spend on the piano, but a good method will cost you less than half the energy to yield the best result in piano playing. -I use the simplest and correct methods to help you play the piano, which was discovered and summarized by my piano knowledge and experience combined with my professors' guideline which was from the Juilliard School, New England Conservatory and the Jacobs School of Music. I have made a lot of sheets/handouts that I have collected over the years and give these out to my students for free, this has worked well for most students. I try to adapt my teaching style to fit any student and help them achieve their goals and believe the best teachers are able to break down complex ideas or difficult concepts into simple steps that any student can follow. My musical journey began at nine years old with piano lessons - not at all an uncommon beginning but an important one. Less than two years later I joined the band playing clarinet. As a high school student, all-state performances and honor bands fiilled many weekends, and I had the privilege of playing regularly in my church on the piano. While playing in a youth symphony as a senior, we toured in Austria absorbing centers of musical history and playing in four uniquely different venues including a wing of the Schonbrunn Palace. For beginning students who are children, I typically start with Faber's Piano Adventures, or the All-In-One Alfred Series. Younger children often succeed with more game-oriented lessons, every student is different. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire from my wide collection appropriate to their taste. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in, and guide my instruction accordingly to keep the lessons engaging and fun, no matter their ability level. Read More

Every student learns differently, so by finding out what inspires my student, I am able to create individiualized lesson plans that cater to my student's needs without losing focus on the fundamentals of music. Music is such a blessing and should be fun! Ample time is given to students to discover their own music and inherent rhythms while studying the vast pedigree of music that has come before us. My lesson plans incorporate everything from reading writing music, jam sessions (often times with me!), and recording time. Read More
