As a teacher, it is very rewarding to see my student progress and see their love for music deepen. I like to help students develop at their own speed while guiding them in the right path. I like to help my students find their own voice and creativity in music. It is very important for me to inspire my students by learning who they are and what they are interested in. Read More

The main reason that I keep track of my student's growth, musical ability, learning speed, and musical history, is because every student is uniquely different when they are in the lessons. Some students are better with being pushed at a quicker pace, and others need more time to learn things. I hope that through my lessons, my students are able to find a passion for music and take that passion with them through their lives. Read More

As a teacher, I am personable, relaxed, but also methodical and detailed. I allow students to progress at their own pace. However, those hoping to pursue a serious musical education of necessity must follow a more intense discipline, which I am happy to provide. Read More

Once they are feeling warmed up I like to move on to sight reading and notation reading (practiced and unpracticed material) as well as scales, intervals, and arpeggios. Read More

My piano students generally start with Faber Piano Adventures. I assign them solo repertoire as they progress through each level in preparation for a recital performance. For the more advanced students, I introduce the fundamentals of playing jazz piano as well. I have my voice students sing through repertoire in the styles of their choice in order to have a better understanding of how their unique voice functions. While working on repertoire, I instill habits of healthy breathing and vocal production. Read More

I've been teaching piano and composition for 15 years. I've taught countless private lessons to people from all ages from as early as 5 years old to 70! I particularly love to help people create their own music and connect to their own musical voice. I help students get through all of the basics; scales, reading, harmony and music theory. I am very good at helping students be creative and to find something inside themselves that allows them to express their voice. Read More

After my own experience with it as well as teaching it, Suzuki has great techniques and music for getting students experience in sight-reading, ear training, and memorization. With the youngest students I start with the fundamentals such as naming the different parts of the instrument and some basic rules with notes. Acronyms and games are always the best way to memorize the different rules. I write out detailed lessons plans for each individual student, constructed specifically for their learning process.
