I enjoy many different types of music, and am stylistically very versatile. Some of my favorites include Brazilian, Latin, classical, Broadway and musical theater, and popular music. In addition to attending The Berklee College of Music, and completing my degree at SUNY Empire State College, Ive been lucky enough to have studied my instruments and composition with some musical greats like Joe Henderson, Joe Lovano, Jim McNeely, Lyle Mays, and more. I use what some have called the target approach. With this method you are working on one concept at a time, and you should always have one concept in mind while you practice. Some examples of beginning concepts are 1) keeping a steady beat, 2) sound quality, or 3) smooth finger technique. In one practice session using the target approach you may spend 10 minutes on target 1) and 15 minutes on target 2). What is important, however, is that you continue to work on a target every day until you find yourself performing that single concept flawlessly and effortlessly. Read More

I hope to inspire a love of music in others through my teaching, playing, and composing. In 2012 I graduated from Eastman School of Music with High Honors, and in 2015 I received a Master's degree in Jazz Studies from New York University, and in 2022 I received a PhD in Music Performance from NYU. I have performed in Italy, Canada, Costa Rica, and throughout the United States, and have taught various styles and instruments to students of all ages. My ultimate goal is to help students develop a love for playing and being around music. The last thing I want is a discouraged student or one that has become bored with music. Therefore, I will set realistic goals for my students so that they are not overwhelmed, but at the same time are constantly engaged and challenged by the material. I like to teach both by ear and by reading music, which accommodates different learning styles a student may have. Read More

In my private lessons I emphasize building a strong foundation in rhythm, intonation, and note accuracy.  I incorporate learning theory, and playing with musical intention into every lesson to develop maturity, even in young musicians.  My students are comfortable reading music, and have all the skills they need to practice effectively.  In addition, I have prepared many musicians for successful concerts, festivals, and gigs. I create my own custom lesson plans and materials to cater to the students needs.  For young beginners, I recommend the KJOS Standard of Excellence book. Read More

Through these outlets I was afforded the opportunity to perform at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space among many other great venues. In those years I had traveled throughout the country as well as overseas performing and studying music. From 2009 - 2014 I attended Both Five Towns College and CUNY Brooklyn College Music Conservatories learning from amazing instructors such as Saleem Washintion and Arturo O'Farrill, playing alongside the ALJO and teaching a few students of my own. Music is a powerful tool in expanding one's understanding of academics, emotions, and culture; among a variety of other things. I began studying music in a performing arts academy at the age of 10. While there, I studied saxophone, cello, double bass, and voice. I continued to major in music throughout high school. While there, I studied within the jazz ensemble, wind ensemble, concert band, marching and pep bands, and saxophone quintet. Read More

Select all the days/times the student would be available to start lessons. Selecting "3pm - 7pm" means the student can start as early as 3pm or start as late as 7pm. It is important that you select as many days and the widest window of start times for each day as possible. That will help us make a match with one of our teachers.
