For younger children, I typically start with the fundamentals such as distinguishing between the head voice and the chest voice. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for said student. For adults, I try to find out what the student is interested in both repertoire and vocal goals, and guide my instruction according to their goals. In the fall of 2019, I graduate from Bridgewater State University with Bachelor of Arts degree in Music with a focus in Vocal Performance. Singing is a difficult skill to teach. Our instrument is internal and is affected by our emotions, stress level, how much sleep we've had, even what we ate for breakfast! Because of this, I feel it is important to maintain a comfortable environment. I encourage my students to let go of their self-doubt and allow themselves to make mistakes. Once students are more advanced we begin to add solo repertoire tailored to the level and genres the student is interested in. With my voice students, we begin by studying how the voice works and we develop a routine of exercises that help develop the proper coordination necessary for healthy vocal production. We then learn to apply these principles to whatever song we wish to sing, ensuring that whenever we use our voice we are doing it in the healthiest and most efficient way possible. Read More

I believe that students learn by DOING, so I bring my microphone to every lesson to give them that hands on experience. I plan on having multiple recitals throughout the year so students can experience singing solo as well as in group settings. I also love to challenge my students with new songs and fun exercises weekly, making sure we are seeing that personal growth as we progress. I give my students things to practice weekly by sending them videos of exercises or songs (all super fun of course) to learn before we meet. Read More
