For beginning level students of any age, I will begin lessons by going over basic fundamentals of sheet music reading (notation, connecting the instrument to the literature) and music theory that will aid them in accomplishing homework tasks independently. For experienced students, I will ask the student to demonstrate knowledge and playing to their best ability to obtain a better understanding of where to continue their studies. I will also ask all students what kind of music they are already studying and what else they would like to pick up from there (studying classical contemporary for school band with an interest in starting jazz music, etc.) I will always consider the students age and playing level to appropriately create lesson plans that will ensure growth over time. Instruments: Voice
Teaching voice is a huge passion of mine. I have enjoyed passing along the training and experience I have gained in the field to all of my gifted students. My training and education, rooted in the classical technique, allows me a deep understanding and knowledge of the voice as an instrument and how it can be manipulated to increase vocal range and stamina, enhance vocal quality, and improve unique vocal strengths and skills. Music and teaching it to others has been my life's work and passion. I am classically trained (obviously) and I am the first and still only person in my family to graduate from a four year college and later graduate school, having earned BM and MM degrees in Piano Performance with a minor in organ at Shenandoah University. In addition to 27 years of music ministry, 26 years as an accompanist and/or MD (classical and music theatre settings) and of course 16 years of private piano teaching, my greatest professional accomplishment is having played at Carnegie Hall in June 2014. Instruments: Piano Voice
For piano students, I use the Faber method, which I believe is very practical and easy to use. The repertoire includes light classical, contemporary and lyrical songs. I teach proper hand position and posture, work on scales, basic music terminology and playing technique. All voice students work on breathing, standard vocal exercises, age appropriate repertoire and interpretation. I have a fun, upbeat personal style, while also being very focused. Read More

One of the biggest discoveries I made while studying was that I didnt want to teach those who did not want to learn. I decided to steer myself away from public school music education, and teach in a more relaxed setting, where I would be able to teach what the student wanted to learn, instead of pouring heart and effort into a subject that didnt interest them, and would therefore fall on deaf ears. With my education being from one of the world's leading contemporary institutes for music, I have a diverse resume of music experience. I have performed in many different venues like Symphony Hall and Agganis Arena in Boston where I attended Berklee College of Music. My original instrument is viola. I took up violin, guitar, and voice short after.
