My teaching experience dates back to my college days, as I began teaching private lessons part time. I have been consistently teaching students since 2018. Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of the key points I like to emphasize for younger students, as it tends to help the student progress and gain a passion for the instrument. My teaching methodology is centered on each student's needs, goals and age. Textbooks can be used when requested, but are not always necessary for every musical style/genre. Each student has different strengths and these must be assessed and reinforced in relation to the student's musical needs. I usually do this by first finding the student's range, vocal timbre, vocal production method, comfort zone and musical taste. Students may chose whether they prefer to learn western musical notation, music theory and Jazz/pop standards.I do recommend that each student learns basic notation and music theory. Read More

My first experience teaching someone was when I was younger in my high school days, I was teaching my 7 year old nephew how to play ukulele which was an arduous task indeed. But through said trails and tribulations we managed to accomplish our goals together. Currently Im teaching guitar at the fine arts academy and I am teaching one student consistently while also substituting occasionally. I have taught privately since 2006, though occasionally I will take two students from the same household, church or neighborhood and pair them up in what is known as a "partner lesson". Each person takes turns at the piano playing their respective scales, repertoire etc. and we offer one another encouragement as well as constructive criticism for those technical issues in need of improvement.
