I am a very active musician that has an innate love of teaching. I started playing the clarinet at age 10 and quickly gained interest in playing more than just one instrument. Fast forward to high school, where I am playing Tuba in the marching band, clarinet in the concert band, and saxophone in the jazz band; this is where I know I wanted to share my passion for others. I am an instructor that focuses on building the whole musician. I can teach multiple disciplines including classical, baroque, jazz, latin jazz, Brazilian, rock, middle eastern, and others. In the last several years I have learned about flute pedagogy and teaching artistry from Marco Granados, audition repertoire and standard repertoire from the BSO's Clint Foreman, and baroque flute/period performance from Na'ama Lion. My philosophy is that flute instruction should extend beyond western concert music and conventional repertoire to build versatile musicians prepared for the modern musical world through a Socratic teaching method that builds the desire to learn. My teaching experience began as community outreach & engagement with the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra's "Crescendo" program. I ran group clarinet lessons and performed in Boston Public Schools. I entered a similar relationship with teaching when I relocated to Chicago in 2016 to play with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Upon my return to Boston, I began teaching privately and joined the faculty of the North End Music & Performing Arts Center where I am a Woodwind Teaching Artist for the Eliot Band Program, as well as teach private lessons.
