My teaching experience began back when I was a junior in college. I started working with 2 high schools in the Daytona Beach area in the marching arts as well as private lessons. Upon moving back home in the metro Atlanta area after graduating, I began doing various clinics for high schools in the Dekalb and Fulton county areas in preparation for the schools spring concert band festival. A typical lesson would include a warmup and a short converstation to make sure that the student and I are on the same page. I want the student to have fun and enjoy the lesson but I also want to push the student to reach their goals. Goal setting is a very important process of any lesson. My teaching studio is equipped with two drums sets and practice pads to accommodate marching or drum set students.   I also have a full PA and two keyboards set up for piano students and accompanying purposes.  Each student is given an assignment for the week (or specified time) and will then pass off this lesson assignment (barrier) before receiving a new lesson.  Passing off not only includes demonstration of the lesson but also performing with me as I accompany them on the keyboards. I have been teaching private lessons for about 15 years, as well as camps and workshops. I have served as a clinician and instructor at Drumline camps and with Orchestra. I created the Percussive Arts Institute of Ruston to bring music education to an underserved community and taught around 100 students in an after-school program. I am a music teacher at heart and love teaching students and shedding new light on different parts of the world of music performance. I graduated from the University of Florida in 2010 with my Bachelor's degree in Music Education. From there, I taught music at Orlando Science Schools in Orlando, FL for 2 years.
