For beginning students, I typically start with basic elements of Music: scales, melody, harmony and rhythm, with the interactions of musical instrument, e.g Guitar. Once the student has progressed to have a grasp of the fundamentals, I will begin to introduce solo repertoire appropriate for their first performance. I will try that repertoire is good for the students, according to their likes and trending. I try to find out what the student is interested and what motivate them. Read More

I have been passionate about playing guitar since I was 17 and my love for music has grown over the years and expanded. I've had a lot of experience with improv blues and rock through taking classes with Berklee College of Music in 2014. My main focus right now is writing my own songs and also teaching my students to love guitar. I have played benefit concerts in the area as well as at cafes. Read More

I tailor my teaching method on a student to student basis. For beginners, I find what bands and music they are interested in and then pick some songs that will be easy for them to get started on quickly. I also try to incorporate basic music reading and notation, especially with younger students. For more advanced students, I assess where they are at and make sure that all fundamentals and techniques are strong, and then come up with a plan to help them progress. Read More

For all my students, my lessons focus on three key areas of playing: technique, fluency, and repertoire. Technique includes warmup exercises, chord vocabulary, and scales among other areas. Fluency includes some form of reading music and is catered to the goals of the student. Whether it be traditional sheet music, guitar tab, lead sheets or otherwise, we will develop skills in reading music that is relevant to a student's area of interest. Read More

I always listen to what the student has to say and I make sure that what we are currently working on always relate to the student's goals. I also record every lesson and send them to the student right after we are done. That way the student can listen back and have all the informations that I gave during the lesson available right away. It is also very important to me that the lessons be entertaining, fun and focused as soon as possible on real music that the student wants to learn. Read More

For beginners, especially younger players, I believe it is best to start with simple pieces to build security. For this I usually try to pick fairly well known melodies that the student likely has in their head already, such as 'Ode to Joy' or 'Jingle-Bells'. By starting with tunes the student already knows, I believe that the learning process becomes much more intuitive. For teens/adults I encourage the student to find out what the students interests/goals are and adjust my lesson accordingly. Read More
