Music has always been a passion of mine ever since I could remember. My fathers old cornet constantly taunted me, telling me to play it. Fast Forward 12 years, I went to Berklee College of Music to study Trumpet Performance. I am a consumate learner, testing my knowledge in many different disciplines of music, from composition to instruments I have never played. Read More

For those who want to put their nose to the grindstone and get as far as they can as quick as they can, I am all for it, but I do not force my students to be this way. Practicing hard must be a personal choice, because it is hard work. The more you practice, the better you will become, but if a student is forced to practice for long periods of time, From what I have seen they will most likely not want to continue. Read More

For younger beginning students, I typically start with either the Suzuki Guitar Method or Alfred's Kid's Guitar Course 1. For older children, I typically start with either the Suzuki Guitar Method or Guitar for Kids: Hal Leonard Guitar Method. Students are able to progress through the Suzuki Guitar Method through multiple volumes, or move through the Hal Leonard Guitar Method - Book 1 and continue through subsequent method books. For a classical guitar approach, I use the Suzuki Guitar Method, the Fredrick Noad Method Books, and the Christopher Parkening Guitar Method Book. Read More
Instruments: Voice
The first half of a typical voice lesson is spent on vocal warm-ups and vocalises. These consist of scales, arpeggios, vowel unification, breath work, etc. and have been accumulated from many teachers over a variety of traditions. Vocalises are the most important part of a solid vocal technique. The second half of lessons is spent working on repertoire either brought in by the student or assigned by myself. Concepts from vocal warm ups will be applied to repertoire, and students are expected to practice on a regular basis outside of lessons. Read More

My approach to doing lessons tends to be high enthusiasm and high standards. I am a firm believer in the idea of using focused practice and developing healthy self-criticism skills to build character. Creating lofty (but achievable) goals, setting standards, and persevering through challenges, is not only a great way to become a better musician, but is also a great way to become a better person. It is with this concept that I approach my lessons. Read More

I am a passionate and highly energized teacher. I graduated from Rhode Island College in 2010, and since then my life in music has taken me to numerous places. I did a tour in Austria and the Czech Republic, I have had the opportunity to take private lessons/master classes with some of the worlds best, and I get to share my love and knowledge of music with my students. My style is to create a stress-free environment. Making music is fun and fulfilling and I make sure the student gets to experience that for themselves. I am very flexible with my approach. If I notice a student hates to read music, then we will practice learning by ear, or vice versa. If I notice my student is writing his or her own songs, then I foster that by teaching composition.
