At the age of nine I began my interest in drums in particular. My father was a great pianist, choir director, teacher, vocal instructor, and all around musician. So growing up in this atmosphere has helped me through the years. I have been officially a drummer since I turned ten, and have continued to play in church, bands ( including my own) and for different events of different styles. I start with books based on levels where we learn new things gradually. Whenever I feel that a student is ready, we start learning more advanced classical composers cause that's where real music starts. I wanna show all my students that they can play these songs, and everything is possible. You just need to do your homework everyday, be patient, and you will see the results. I like my students to tell me what they would like to get from taking lessons. I then integrate what they want to learn with what I think they should learn. While learning a song or piece of music, I teach the student pertinent music concepts and saxophone technique. I find giving students scales and exercises to learn without context is often discouraging for them because they are not sure why and how they apply in other music situations. Read More

And I have explored many different systems of drumming, both theoretically and practically, in professional situations. I usually don't refer to any specific published drum books and use my own photo copied exercises and material I have collected over the years.
