I like to know what activities other than music they enjoy, what their favorite/least favorite subject is in school, what they want to be when they grow up, what motivates them and what doesn't. My goal for my students is to get them to a level of performance when they have the fundamentals and confidence to go out into the world and be a performing musician or teaching artist.
