During my college time I discovered my passion for the singing technique of the human voice, and a talent for teaching. I solely trained in Europe and took classes from vocalists like, Katarina Lange-Frohberg, Sigfried Lorenz and Christiane Bergold.I have moved to the United States in 1996 and have been working in the education and performance field of musical theater. In 2000 I launched my own vocal studio, Mr. Gisbert's Voice Studio. Read More

For beginning students in any genre, I begin with learning songs. Classical, jazz, bluegrass, and rock are more easily understood when you spend time playing the music with someone else. Repertoire is chosen with the understanding that fundamentals are key to life long participation and students find positive success when they are able to then share a completed work with their friends and family (think holiday get-togethers!) For young intermediate to advanced players, the philosophy of building one's repertoire continues with the added focus on musical understanding. Read More

When I left Berklee to study with John Mehegan I played in local blues bands but didn't work much. I heard that playing in so called society bands payed much better and the work was mor frequent. I did that for years. I played with an Elvis impersonator and got tons of work. The most lucrative thing was composing and writing radio and TV commercials for local banks and businesses, I even had a chance to arrange a jingle for Sunkist orange soda, as you probably know the Beach Boys got the job. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing one of my students developing as a trumpet player. However, each student has his/her own pace. I look to provide a good atmosphere in my classes and work in the way that the student is looking for. If it was a intention of my student to apply for a young musical group audition, for example, I will walk this way to help him/her to achieve this goal. Read More

The fundamentals of singing can be explained in 15-20 minutes, but it takes a lifetime to master them. Wherever you are in the pursuit of voice, it's necessary to develop reproducible, reliable technique. Singing is breath, vowels and consonants, and feeling, and how the three of them interact is crucial to having a sustainable, easy, and fun instrument. This is where the work is. The first half of each lesson is spent on vocal exercises and technique, and the second half is spent working on repertoire, applying what's been learned in an effective and lasting way. Read More

My experience with doing private lessons started when my last year at Bethune Cookman to earn a little extra cash in my pocket. I started out teaching beginning elementary students which sharpened up my skills for basic knowledge of the saxophone. As time progressed I started to teach intermediate student so that they can develop the tone and basic technique. Once I graduated from Bethune Cookman I went back to my old high school and volunteered in the music department. Read More
