My teaching style focuses on each student as an individual. I do not believe in making the student look or play exactly like me in terms of technique or style. I am kind, energetic, and engaging, but I can also be strict if it is required in order to meet the student's goals. I like to make learning and lessons exciting because it keeps the student engaged and inspired. From a young age, I've been interested in music, and I would often tap around on my grandma's piano, but alas I went toward brass instruments. I started playing trumpet in middle school around the age of 11, and I've been playing trumpet for about 11 years. I played for 3 years in my high school's marching band, winning state championship's one year, and 3rd the other years. I've played in jazz bands, concert bands, and I've participated in MPA. For my beginner students, who are younger, I start off with the Faber series in the Primer levels. After progressing through the first few levels of the series, I then start to introduce solo repertoire depending on the interests of the student. For my older students, we also go through the Faber Adult Piano Adventures book, where we learn the basics of piano along with some fun pieces. I teach more information outside of the book which is not taught until later to get ahead. Read More

I will start off my lessons with the Bastien Piano Basics course. The student will use a lesson book, a performance book, a technique book and a theory book. Once the student has reached a certain level, they will begin lessons in Piano Literature and John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano.
