My journey into piano teaching began 2 years ago when I started working with a few adult learners. Since then I have had the opportunity to work with kids and adults of all ages and levels. Teaching is something I find incredibly rewarding and take very seriously. Watching a student progress and gain confidence is something that brings me joy and satisfaction. It is my job as a teacher to make learning fun and engaging, while providing support and guidance to a student as they progress on their own individualized learning path. Read More

I'm a passionate music educator with considerable experience as a teacher and performer. I graduated from the University of Arkansas in 2005 where I studied music education with an emphasis on trombone. Since graduation, I have been fortunate to have many opportunities to conduct, perform, and teach music. I play a many different instruments and perform many different genres and styles. Whether it be conducting student ensembles, performing in small clubs, or singing with a chorus at Carnegie Hall, many of my best life experiences have been because of music and I want to guide my students toward their own great musical experiences. I am interested in the individual growth of my students. I encourage exploration and learning through experiences, and if my students leave my classes with a little more knowledge and a great deal more wonder, I consider it a success. I like to follow my students down the tracks they are interested in and then choose to broaden the path once we are there. From this place I have written a 12 page chart featuring a Justin Bieber tune, written a Britney Spears song into Swing, put a Miranda Lambert song in five, and arranged an original by The Script in a Latin feel. In-between now and then, my music career took a lot of twists and turns, ups and downs, and ins and outs. Read More

I love to see my student's grow and achieve their goals. I am excellent at catering to my student's needs to make a practical lesson plan to get from A to B. MAny of my student's have not left since I have taken them on. Some of them are in their 7th year of study. I am very proud of that. Read More

For methods; it will honestly depend on if the student has been working through something with a prior lesson teacher or after the first lesson and seeing what the interest is in either jazz or classical will go from there. For classical; I would utilize the Rubank method books that I used when doing classical music. For jazz studies, I find it more beneficial to start with the Charlie Parker Omnibook, Realbook, then start learning things by ear and memory depending on the level of the student and the progress we are making.
