For my first lessons I teach the notes of the guitar and some simple chords. I like to find out beforehand what the students are most interested in learning. Then I gather pieces from my students based on what they are interested in and teach them these pieces. For beginning students, my main goal is to lead them to appreciate and love music for the rest of their lives. I work on fundamentals like the proper posture, developing good ears for correct tones, and how to correctly hold the bow. A perfect understanding of basics goes a long way. Many times students have videoed me playing pieces i teach so they have an example to watch/follow. I use Josephine Trott double stoo books 1 2. I use Yaakov Geringas's "Shifting~Thirty Studies For Young Violinists " .there are a couple scale books i use with my students. I have quite a collection of fiddle tunes, klezmeh tunes, Gypsy music and more i like to mix in with the classical music. Ms. Jiuri is currently a violin instructor at the Key notes school of Music, Yamaha Music school of Boston and Maestro Musicians Academy. She has recently found that teaching young children gives her great joy, especially dealing when with the complexities of personalities as they arise and the challenge of motivating and molding young minds.
