For beginning students, we initially tackle the fundamentals of music and drumming. This includes how to properly hold the sticks, basic reading skills, music terminology, rudiments, and stickings. I also teach one or two drumset beats in the first lesson to show the student that playing drums is for everyone. After the student begins to understand the fundamentals, I structure a tailored lesson plan that addresses their areas of interest. Read More

I have always had a natural affinity for the musical arts since I could remember; beginning at age 3, I began tinkering with the keyboard, and since then I have expanded my repertoire to encompass over 20 musical instruments with the aid of friends, family, teachers, and the resources they have offered me. While I have not formally pursued a career in performance art, I have nonetheless continued with my musical exploits on the side, on my personal time and, when the opportunity presented itself, with others in performing groups. I have been teaching consistently since the summer of 2013, working with students of all ages and ability. Although I specialize in violin performance and pedagogy, I have also spent a significant amount of time teaching piano, music theory, and harmony. I believe that consistent practice, alongside warm encouragement and motivation is the key to any kind of success when teaching music. Over the years, I have learned that teaching violin and music does not have to be done solely on the instrument, and I like to spend time developing a strong sense of harmony and rhythm by playing small practice games throughout a lesson- especially with children. I am a performing artist who loves inspiring and helping others in their musical journeys. My rigorous classical background and broad musical interests allow me to find ways to encourage both beginning and advanced students, no matter what their musical interests. I tailor studies to individual students, as everyone has music inside regardless of training and specific abilities. My background includes professional recitals, chamber music, orchestral piano, and collaborative work. Read More

I am a patient instructor who likes to keep a relaxed atmosphere throughout the lessons while at the same time fostering an intensive learning environment. I am especially good with children. I expect my students to work hard, but my philosophy is that music should never become a chore. It is my hope that music should allow my students to discover a part of themselves that they never knew existed, but above all playing music should be about having fun! Read More
