Typically, the first lesson begins as a mock audition to engage the level that the student is at, no matter what age. After learning about the student's musical taste, I usually pick the music that the student will learn in our lessons, this especially goes for beginners. More intermediate and advanced students will get to choose what music they want to learn, accordingly to the lesson plan. I have many books and sheet music for all sorts of styles. Read More

Also, I have amassed hundreds of guitar songs, both in TAB and notation. These songs are in the popular and classical genres and are great for all grades, from beginner through advanced. I also map out popular guitar songs. This mapping out procedure means my guitar students get the sheet music with just the lyrics, no chords... However, I write in dots above the lyrics as to where the chord changes are settled. Read More

Since we are all individuals with our own stories to tell, our own desires and goals and our own way of developing it is essential to teach a lesson where each student evolves at their own pace with my guidance and encouragement. We set goals and work on their vocal books which can be used for any audition, performance or personal events. Students are eager to learn when they know they are able to choose their material while also knowing I will challenge them with my selections as well. Read More

I started teaching piano and drums in church around the age of 18. Once I got to college, I picked up trombone, piano and singing lessons for various students aging from 4 years old-22 years old. I realized that teaching, part time, was a passion of mine and greatly became something that I focused my efforts on full time. Now, as a professional musician, I take pride in helping others achieve their music dreams. Read More

There are two major philosophies I've uncovered when teaching lessons. 1. The use of descending lines to erase the "break" in ones voice. Early while studying, myself, I was taught to sing ascending, trying to maintain the same sound - this is defeating. Rather, bringing the top down is the "way to go." 2. Keeping the sound forward makes changing from one vowel to another quite easy and palpable. We generally begin by humming, getting vibrations away from the throat and into the front of the mouth. My experiences in and out of the classroom continuously pushes me to evolve my philosophy and teaching style. Music is not just about singing or playing the right notes and lyrics. It is about making connections from most personal experiences through the most universal language. This is the kind of experience I hope to share with my students through music in a safe, challenging, and creative environment. It doesn’t matter whether students are seasoned musicians or first-time singers. Read More

I have been teaching since my early years in college. I got really involved when my son was born and was asked to start teaching fundamental music class. The business grew and started having students coming to my house. It is a passion to see the child achieve and get lead roles in music theater or compete in a piano competition and receive a ribbon. To see my students eye light up talking about their experience and see how confident they have grown as a vocalist. Read More
