Instruments: Piano Music
I try to get to know students personally and musically. My goal in teaching is to help students to pursue their goals whether as professional musicians or music lovers which are equally important to me. I dont ever set any fixed expectations and rules in teaching as they are all adjustable to me working with individuals who are all at different levels and share different values. I always talk to my students to figure out what they want to play and what they'd like to achieve by learning, and we would go from there by making customized plans. Read More
Instruments: Piano Guitar
I feed off the student and their likes and dislikes. I encourage to no end and want nothing more than to see the student suceed, as it makes me feel good inside and what I have put forth of my experiences with the instrument. Read More
Instruments: Guitar Drums Bass Guitar
I have been playing guitar for approximately 15 years. Over those years I have played many different styles, playing different instruments in different bands, from open mics to big venues all over the country. I love playing music and love helping others discover their love as well. One note worthy teaching gig I’ve had was working for a company in Nassau County, NY teaching guitar and music theory to developmentally challanged adults in a day program. There is no musician I will turn away; my focus is guitar, but I have many instruments and can introduce the basics for many such as drums, violin, viola, cello, piano, bass guitar, as well as composition and arrangment. I have worked with many bands, ensembles, and chamber groups, and would love the opportunity to help you achieve your musical goals. Whatever your musical interests, I'll help you get to where you want to go. Read More
Instruments: Piano
I began teaching in college under my teacher's supervision when I was 18 years old, and in the United States I have been teaching piano as private lessons for eight years. Im happy to work with students of all abilities who are eager to learn about playing piano! Encouraging regular practice on a consistent schedule is one of my key points I like to emphasize for students of all ages, as it tends to help the students progress and gain a passion for piano. Instruments: Piano Saxophone Flute Clarinet Keyboard
I believe on an emphasis of performance over theory; learning to make a kinesthetic connection with your instrument is most important in developing both a good sound and adequate technique. The value of a good warm-up is most important in establishing a successful practice routine. We are all pressed for time, so I help students focus on the most important elements of breath control, embouchure and articulation at the same time that they are acquiring technical facility through the logical development of scales and arpeggios. Instruments: Voice
I try to incorporate different exercises for each piece of music to keep things interesting for my students. I believe active physical engagement of the body is important to achieve freedom for the voice. This is particularly helpful for younger children to keep their minds from wandering during the lesson. I often ask for feedback from the students, to check in on how they are feeling physically and vocally. During our lessons, I hope to train up students to be creative thinkers and discerning individuals so that they can find their own authentic interpretation of the song. Read More
Instruments: Trumpet Saxophone Flute Clarinet Oboe
For younger students, I typically assist and follow the method books students are working on. For example, they may use Standards of Excellence or Hal Leonard’s Essential Elements. These lesson books are crucial to teaching the fundamentals as a student is beginning to learn an instrument. I will break away from the books and introduce appropriate solo repertoire. I will also be mindful to the interests of the students to keep them engaged. Read More
